Subscribing to a brand’s lifestyle vs. participating in cosplay aren’t disparate. Fantasy is omnipresent whenever we dress ourselves, however its magnitude seems to dictate whether we consider it to be fashion vs. costume.

“By 1924 John B. Watson was considered one of the leading people in advertising… . one thing that made Watson so successful was his use of the then almost-unknown concept of market research. He found, for example, that blindfolded smokers could not differentiate among different brand of cigarettes. Because preference must be based on the images associated with various brand names, Watson concluded that sales could be influenced by manipulating the images associated with brand names.” - Hergenhahn, And introduction to the history of psychology.
(Watson was also a prominent American psychologist. He founded the behaviorist school of thought and sports psychology.)
Watson went into advertising after personal issues (an affair), and perhaps his zeal for behaviorism, made it unable for him to work in academia. His new career (advertising) was indeed lucrative (which was good because he was broke). Perhaps it could be said that the burden of his financial success is finally unfolding with the new anti-branding laws set in Australia and soon New Zealand.

Given the belief that each human has a soul, what if our souls become reincarnated into different bodies? What if a soul’s experience afforded a certain disposition in future lives? In other words, a deceased scientist’s soul possesses an aptitude if given the right circumstance after subsequent reincarnation. Given the belief that it’s impossible to withhold knowledge after reincarnation, what if the only way to build on one’s previous life-work was to stumble upon it after reincarnation? This seems plausible in moments when we read something close to our heart—as if it were our own soul’s writing.
That being said, I recognize it sounds crazy. Despite the fact that I believe someone has already thought of this before. Perhaps what’s more interesting to me is that I still believe that the first paragraph sounds crazy despite my simultaneous belief that it’s unremarkable.
Aside from Apple’s MagSafe power socket’s functional benefits, I enjoy the thought that my MacBook Pro’s desire for power is so great that it greedily latches onto any opportunity to be fed.
